Thiva Narayanan lives in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia but writes from all over, depending on where his work takes him and when the muse visits. He started writing his versions of fiction, imitating Robert Louis Stevenson and Arthur Conan Doyle as a kid, and has been dabbling in fiction ever since. In recent years, he’s been submitting entries to the best literary contests around the world, including the Fish Short Story Prize, The Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize, The Writers’ Village Summer and Winter Competitions, the Bridport Literary Prize, The Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition and many others.
In early 2018, he was placed second in the Fish Short Story Prize for 2017, with his entry, “Herr Siegfried Ottmar”. In June 2019, “The Voice in the Well”, which is available as a post in this blog, was published at flashfloodjournal.blogspot.com by National Flash Fiction Day. In July 2019, his “Sleeper/ The Mole” was long listed for the Bristol Short Story Prize. “Everyone Is Offended These Days” was long listed for the Fish Flash Fiction Prize in April 2020. In March 2021, “Not the Auguries for a Peaceable Night” was longlisted for the Fish Flash Fiction Prize as well.
His wife Rema is his occasional proof-reader and daughter Kyeisha, his audience for his stories.
